International I Hate Coriander Day

February 24 is International I Hate Coriander Day.
Just found out a group I belong to, so excited!
The word Coriander comes from the Greek word “Koris” meaning “stink bug” which I think is very accurate.
Origin:
The Day originated in 2013, with the inception of a Facebook group called “I Hate Coriander”. And the number of members has risen to a following of more than 200,000.
The hatred for coriander doesn’t come from nowhere. For near 10% of the global population, they taste soapy.
Scientific support behind:
A research performed by 23andMe company on a large cohort found out a SNP site on chromosome 11 which could affect OR6A2 gene. This gene is a olfactory receptor having high binding specificity for aldehydes that gives coriander its characteristic odor.
